About this panel

Many transplant clinics request a pre-operative blood panel before booking surgery. This panel covers the standard fitness-for-surgery markers plus iron and inflammation status, which are relevant to wound healing and post-operative recovery.

Who this panel is for

  • You have a hair transplant booked or planned
  • You need pre-op clearance documentation for a surgical clinic
  • You want to optimise your blood markers ahead of surgery

What's measured

Every biomarker is measured by a UKAS-accredited laboratory and interpreted by a GMC-registered doctor in the context of your overall results.

Full blood count with platelets

Checks platelet count and excludes anaemia ahead of surgery

Iron studies (ferritin, serum iron, TIBC, transferrin saturation)

Iron status, which underpins general wound healing and post-operative recovery

Vitamin D & B12

Nutritional status for healing

Thyroid function

Excludes thyroid dysfunction that could affect healing and hair cycling

Inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR)

Screens for systemic inflammation that could affect surgical recovery

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about the Pre-Transplant Screening. Have a question we haven't answered? Get in touch.

How much does the Pre-Transplant Screening cost?

£199. This is the all-in price and includes the appointment, every biomarker listed above, and a written clinical review by a GMC-registered doctor. No additional fees for the consultation or report.

How long do Pre-Transplant Screening results take?

Results within 4 hours of your appointment. All results are reviewed by a GMC-registered doctor before being released to your secure patient portal.

Do I need to fast for the Pre-Transplant Screening?

No, fasting is not required for the Pre-Transplant Screening. You can eat and drink normally before your appointment. Not required. Important: if you take B12, folate, B-complex or multivitamin supplements, hold them for 24 to 72 hours before testing (and ideally several weeks for B12 specifically), so the vitamin levels reflect your true baseline rather than the supplemented one. This matters most when bloods are being used to plan surgery.

Where is the Pre-Transplant Screening carried out?

At our private clinic at 134 Harley Street, London W1G 7JY. The nearest tube stations are Regent's Park (5 minutes' walk) and Bond Street (8 minutes' walk). The nearest car park is Q-Park Harley Street (Weymouth Mews).

Do I need a GP referral to book the Pre-Transplant Screening?

No. WMG Health offers direct-access blood testing, so you can book online or by phone without a GP referral. Our clinicians review every set of results and will flag anything that requires follow-up.
