Onsite laboratory: samples are processed in the same building within minutes of collection, never in external transit. Faster turnaround, no sample degradation, results you can trust.
Booking & appointments
Do I need a GP referral to book a test?
No. WMG Health offers direct-access testing; you can book any panel online or by phone without a GP referral. Our own GMC-registered clinicians will review your results and flag anything that needs attention.
Can I book a same-day appointment?
Yes. Same-day appointments are usually available at our Harley Street clinic. We recommend booking by 11am for a same-day slot. Call us on 020 3239 3378 or use our online booking.
How long does the appointment take?
Blood draw appointments typically take 10–15 minutes. You will be seen by one of our doctors in a private clinical room. There is no waiting around.
Where are you located?
Our clinic is at 134 Harley Street, London, W1G 7JY, part of the Westminster Medical Group premises. Nearest tube stations are Regent's Park (Bakerloo line) and Bond Street (Central/Jubilee lines).
Can I book for someone else?
Yes, you can book on behalf of a family member or partner. Please ensure the person attending provides their own identification at the appointment.
Are you a private GP or a blood-testing clinic?
WMG Health is a private diagnostic and blood-testing service, not a general-practice surgery. You do not need to see a GP first to book any of our panels, and your results are reviewed and annotated by a GMC-registered doctor before release - so for many concerns (low energy, hormones, suspected deficiency, hair shedding) you can come straight to us. For ongoing primary care, prescriptions or referrals on findings outside hair health, our parent group Westminster Medical Group offers private GP services at the same address.
Is the clinic in Westminster?
134 Harley Street sits in the Marylebone area of the City of Westminster, in central London W1G. The clinic is operated by Westminster Medical Group, our parent private healthcare practice; WMG Health is its dedicated diagnostics and blood-testing service.
Your results
How long do results take?
Turnaround varies by panel and is shown on each panel page. Most General Wellness, hair, pre-transplant, Hormone Specialist, Adrenal Function and Female Hormone Panel results return within 4 hours of your appointment, with vitamin D, B12 and zinc returned the same working day and the slower hormone markers (DHT and the wider androgen panel for the Hormone Specialist; DHEAS and total testosterone for the Adrenal Function Panel; oestradiol and total testosterone for the Female Hormone Panel) returning within 24 hours. SHBG can take up to 48 hours where it features. The Testosterone Panel returns total testosterone and DHT within 24 hours; calculated free testosterone depends on SHBG and can take up to 48 hours. The BBV Screen has a standard 2-working-day turnaround. The Scarring Alopecia histopathology report takes 7 to 10 days. You will be notified by email as soon as your results are ready in your secure patient portal.
How do I receive my results?
Results are delivered to your secure patient portal, accessible via the link in your confirmation email. You can also request a printed summary at your appointment.
Are my results reviewed by a doctor?
Yes. Every set of results is reviewed and annotated by a GMC-registered doctor before they are released to you. You receive a personalised report with plain-language interpretation, not just a table of numbers.
What happens if a result is flagged as abnormal?
If any marker falls significantly outside the reference range, our clinical team will contact you directly, usually the same day the results are ready, with a clear written interpretation and recommended next steps. For hair loss and pre-transplant patients, a follow-up consultation with our hair specialists can be arranged promptly. For findings outside hair health (general wellness, hormone, or BBV results), we recommend taking the results to your GP or relevant specialist for ongoing care.
Can I share my results with my NHS GP?
Absolutely. Your results report is in a standard clinical format and can be shared with your GP or any other healthcare provider. Many patients find that having private results helps them have more informed conversations with their NHS clinician.
The tests
Do I need to fast before my test?
Fasting depends on the panel. The Hair Loss Essentials, Advanced Hair & Hormone Check, Pre-Transplant Screening, Pre-Transplant + BBV, BBV Screen and General Wellness panels do not require fasting. The Adrenal Function Panel requires an 8 to 12 hour overnight fast (water only, do not fast longer than 12 hours) and must be drawn between 8 and 9 AM because cortisol follows a strong morning peak. The Testosterone Panel requires an overnight fast with the draw between 7 and 11 AM, in line with BSSM guidance. The Female Hormone Panel prefers an overnight fast for the cleanest free T4 reading, with a morning draw; cycling women get the cleanest baseline on cycle days 2 to 5. Important across all panels: if you take B12, folate, B-complex or multivitamin supplements, hold them for 24 to 72 hours before testing (and ideally several weeks for B12 specifically), as recent supplementation can mask a true deficiency. Check the dedicated panel page or call us if you are unsure.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring a form of photo ID. If you are taking any regular medications or supplements, bring a list; this helps our clinician contextualise your results accurately.
Are your laboratories accredited?
Yes. We use UKAS-accredited UK laboratories (ISO 15189) for all our testing. UKAS accreditation is the recognised UK standard for medical laboratory quality and means the lab's methods, reference ranges and quality controls are independently assessed against ISO 15189.
Can I request a specific marker not listed in your panels?
Yes. You can build a custom panel from any combination of markers on our menu, or tell us your concern and a GMC-registered clinician will design one for you. Call 020 3239 3378 or request a custom panel online; our clinicians advise on the most appropriate markers for your health concerns and confirm the price before you book.
Can I get adrenal function tested?
Yes. Our Adrenal Function Panel measures morning cortisol, DHEA-sulfate, total testosterone and SHBG for £299, drawn between 8 and 9 AM after an 8 to 12 hour overnight fast (water only, do not fast longer than 12 hours). It is the standard first-line screen of HPA-axis function; abnormal results are followed up with dynamic testing (low-dose dexamethasone suppression for suspected Cushing's, Synacthen for suspected Addison's) per Society for Endocrinology pathways. If you need additional markers beyond that bundle (ACTH, aldosterone, urinary free cortisol, salivary cortisol) tell us via our custom panel request and we will confirm the price before you book.
Pricing & payments
What is included in the price?
Every panel price includes your appointment, blood draw by a trained phlebotomist or GMC-registered clinician, laboratory processing at a UKAS-accredited facility, clinical review of your results by a GMC-registered doctor, and a personalised results report. There are no hidden fees.
How do I pay?
Payment is taken online in advance at the time of booking and must be paid before your appointment is confirmed. We do not accept payment in clinic, cash, cheques, or NHS vouchers. We accept all major credit and debit cards online. We do not currently work with private health insurance providers, so we cannot advise on whether a specific policy would reimburse our services after the fact. If you intend to claim against an insurer, please speak to them directly before booking to confirm whether they accept claims from independent diagnostic providers.
Do you offer follow-up consultations?
Yes, specifically for hair loss and hair restoration. Results from our Hair Loss Essentials, Advanced Hair & Hormone Check, and Pre-Transplant panels can be reviewed in a follow-up consultation with one of our hair specialists, which is particularly useful before starting medical treatment (finasteride, minoxidil, PRP) or planning a transplant. For our general wellness, hormone, and BBV panels, results come with a written clinical interpretation from a GMC-registered doctor; for ongoing care or further investigation of those findings we recommend taking the report to your GP or a relevant specialist.
