Quick answer

Yes. WMG Health is a direct-access private clinic, so a GP referral is not needed. You choose a panel (fixed prices from £169 to £389) or ask a doctor to design a custom one, attend 134 Harley Street by appointment, and receive a doctor-reviewed written report that you can share with your GP.

How it works

  1. Choose. Pick the panel that fits your question below, or ask for a custom panel.
  2. Book. Book online or call 020 3239 3378. The clinic is appointment-based, Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 4pm (last appointment 3:45pm).
  3. Attend. A trained phlebotomist or GMC-registered clinician takes the sample. Some panels need fasting or a morning appointment, and the instructions are on each panel page.
  4. Review. A GMC-registered doctor reviews the results and writes a plain-English report. Results are released as each marker is reviewed, and we confirm the expected timeframe at booking.

Which test should I book?

Start from the question you want answered. See all panels and prices to compare.

Hair loss or thinning Ferritin, thyroid, vitamin D, B12 and more, with hormone markers if needed. Thyroid TSH, free T4, free T3 and TPO antibodies, built around your question. General health check Blood count, iron, vitamins, thyroid, liver, kidney, cholesterol and HbA1c. Hormones Testosterone, female hormone and adrenal panels. Blood-borne viruses HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and syphilis, confidentially. Something specific A doctor designs a custom panel and confirms the price in writing first.

Seeing your GP as well

A private blood test does not replace NHS care. It gives you information and a doctor's explanation, and it is not a diagnosis. We recommend sharing your report with your GP so that your NHS record is complete and they can arrange treatment, repeat tests or referral where needed.

See your GP first, or call NHS 111, if you have new or worsening symptoms that worry you, such as chest pain, unexplained weight loss, blood in your stools or urine, sudden patchy hair loss with scalp changes, or very heavy bleeding. Call 999 in an emergency. A blood test is not the right first step for those.

Questions about booking without a referral

Can I get a blood test without a GP referral?

Yes. WMG Health is a direct-access private clinic at 134 Harley Street, so you can book a blood test yourself without a letter from your GP. A GMC-registered doctor reviews your results and writes a report for you.

Will my GP see the results?

Only if you share them. Your report is yours, and we recommend sharing it with your GP so that your NHS record is complete and they can arrange any treatment or follow-up that you need.

What happens if a result is abnormal?

The reviewing doctor explains what the result means and what to do next, including whether to see your GP. A private blood test gives information and is not a diagnosis, and treatment of a confirmed condition is usually arranged through your GP or an NHS specialist.

Can I get a thyroid test without a GP referral?

Yes. You can book a private thyroid blood test directly, choosing the markers with a doctor. See our thyroid blood test page for what is measured and how to prepare.

How much does a private blood test cost?

Our blood test panels are priced from £169 to £389, with a fixed price on each panel page. A custom panel is priced by the markers you choose, and we confirm the price in writing before you book.

How long do results take?

Results are released as each marker is reviewed, and the completion date is set by the slowest marker in your panel. We confirm the expected timeframe when you book.
