How long do Pre-Transplant + BBV Screen results take?
Results are released as each marker is reviewed, rather than held back until the whole panel is complete. Most markers return within about 3 to 5 working days. BBV serology is the slower component and sets the date a surgical team can work to, so book with that in mind rather than the routine markers. Urgent processing may be available on request and is confirmed at booking. All results are reviewed by a GMC-registered doctor before being released to your secure patient portal.
Do I need to fast for the Pre-Transplant + BBV Screen?
Fasting required: please fast for at least 12 hours before your blood test. Water is fine, and encouraged, but no food or other drinks. Do not stop any prescribed medication. There is no fixed time window for the draw. Do not take iron tablets for 24 hours beforehand, or a B12 supplement beforehand. If you take thyroid tablets, take them after the blood draw, not before. Please tell us when you think you may have been exposed, if relevant, and about any recent hepatitis B vaccination. If you take folate, B-complex or multivitamin supplements, hold them for 24 to 72 hours before testing.
