A significant proportion of non-pattern hair loss has a correctable contributor such as iron deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, or low vitamin B12. This panel measures the standard markers a UK clinician would request to investigate unexplained shedding or thinning (iron studies, vitamin D, B12, folate, full thyroid function and a full blood count), plus zinc and CRP, with full clinical review of your results.

How much does the Hair Loss Essentials cost?

How long do Hair Loss Essentials results take?
Results are released as each marker is reviewed, rather than held back until the whole panel is complete. Most markers return within about 3 to 5 working days. We confirm the expected timeframe for your panel at booking. All results are reviewed by a GMC-registered doctor before being released to your secure patient portal.
Do I need to fast for the Hair Loss Essentials?
Fasting required: please fast for at least 12 hours before your blood test, because serum iron and TIBC are measured on this panel. Water is fine, and encouraged, but no food or other drinks. Do not stop any prescribed medication. A morning appointment between 8am and 10am is preferred, for the zinc result. Do not take iron tablets or supplements for 24 hours beforehand, and do not take a B12 supplement or have a B12 injection beforehand. If you take thyroid tablets, take them after the blood draw, not before. If you take folate, B-complex or multivitamin supplements, hold them for 24 to 72 hours before testing, because recent supplementation can mask a real deficiency.
